President's Fun Run

On Sunday 11 th July 2004, the annual fun run, organised by the President , commenced at the Woolworth’s Car Park at Cumberland Park.

Apart from one or two cars that couldn’t work out their North East from their South West there was a total of 6 car that found the starting point. Considering the weather forecast (cold & rainy) this wasn’t too bad.

The cars started at intervals of 5 minutes with their instructions and questions to answer along the route. Fortunately the rain held off until we reached the higher altitudes of the Mt Lofty ranges.

El Presidente had taken precautions for our comfort by arranging for the run to finish at Loftia Park with plenty of shelter, gas heaters and warming home made soup on arrival. The majority of participants found the run fairly easy and not too stressful with the winners being Peter and Wendy Hackle followed by John & Catie Cullen.

After consuming our lunches there was a break in the weather that allowed for a Boche competition (you know those little silver balls) where Gayl Schwarz took out the honours.

We were an intimate group of 15 adults and this gave us the opportunity to get to know new members Paul and Fatima McCarthy and their two boys Sean and Jarrad.

If you were not able to come this time make sure you put it on your agenda for next year for a good family / friends outing.
